For a variety of reasons, we’re a bit late in getting our updates to you, but now the ministry calendar for the third week of June has been uploaded. On June 17th (Tue), seven of us from our Network participated in a meeting in Sendai where churches and organizations involved in providing disaster-related support, coming from Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima and Ibaraki prefectures, shared about the present status of their activities and the issues at hand. The participants also discussed the future, in particular the purpose of disaster support ministry, with many take aways from this meeting.
The activity calendar for the second week of June has been updated. Sorry for being a bit late with this. Our new staff at Miyako and Yamada have been quick to get going (Hikari Kanno has gotten her driver’s license!). The time for the IMPACT team in Ichinoseki to go home is drawing near. They are at full throttle. (cont’d to prayer points)
It’s so hot, it feels like summer is already here in Iwate! We’re into our ministry for the first week of June, but our ministry work in Kitasarniku and Miyako will be taking a break this week. For those of you familiar with the name “Hocmin House”, please note that there has been a name change. The Miyako volunteer base will now be known as “Shalom House” to reflect the change in the lessee from Hocmin to the United Project. Otherwise, ministry as usual there. (cont’d in Prayer Points)
