Our activity calendar for the fifth week of July has now been uploaded. Please continue to uphold our ministry at our various locations in your prayers. We’ve also updated our column where we introduced our staff (see the “Staff” dropdown under “About” from our menu). You can read up about our current staff and those who have served us in the past.
Typhoon Neoguri turned into a low pressure system, leaving Ohfunato with this beautiful sunset (photo by Stephen Bay). In the wee hours of July 12th, the earthquake triggered an evacuation order and in Ohfunato a 20 cm tsunami was observed. It looks like no major damage was caused, but we still remember in prayer the folks who must have spent an anxious time. This week, the Network will come together in a retreat and have the opportunity to learn from Prof Boan, Co-Director of Humanitarian Disaster Institute, Associate Professor of Psychology at Wheaton College, on the theme “Support Beyond The Third Year”. Ministry for week 2 in July has now been uploaded to the website calendar. Please pray for our ministry across our locations. A very strong typhoon is headed in the direction of the mainland, and Iwate may be affected towards the later part of the week. Please pray for the safety of our staff and also for the disaster-stricken areas to be kept from harm.
